Christmas tree outdone by UFC

Well, it should have been a really easy blogging night…we bought our first Christmas tree (our second tree, but first time we paid). We paid a small fortune ($35) for a fraser fir, apparently we will never be able to go back to a “lesser” breed, so we have been told.

BUT the night really goes to our tour of the city in search of $5 MMA figurines. I have been graduated from novice RFD shopper to something a little more, when I spotted a “good deal” according to Ed. We went to 3 different Walmarts, and eventually hit the mother load at the Lawrence location.

It was an exciting expedition for sure!

Sushi and designing…

Tonight we had AYCE sushi dinner with Vince, it was a pretty lame attempt at AYCE, I have to admit we tapped out pretty early. But it is always fun to share a meal and conversation with Vince.

Afterwards, we went to Vince’s place and went through several options for his tv, sofa, etc configuration. I can’t wait till we can design, shop and decorate our own house!

I missed a day AGAIN. Frig!

Yesterday, I went to my first official board meeting at CEA. It was interesting and it has certainly sparked my attention for further advances. I think there will be a lot to learn there and a lot for me to add/experience. I have been asked to write a policy for employee retention, professional development and incentives structure. This is going to be a learning challenge, but I am excited to do it, since continued learning is so important to me.

Small Appliances galore!

We have bought even more appliances, we got a panini press. I am very excited to make home made bread for paninis. OOOoooo yum! Also we had our first batch of apple juice too, it tastes just like an apple. And I mixed in some ginger infused honey….omg, amazing!

And alas our Christmas shopping endevour only led us to one conclusion…shop online! People, parking, distractions all make online shopping seem very attractive.

I missed a day….I was doing so well, I even thought about writing it after getting home from the One of a Kind show. As always, I was filled with sparks of creativity and inspiration. Christine and I had a great talk about using art for teaching life experiences. As well as take classes for ourselves. And of course, I bought myself some presents too.

Today, we are going to go to Yorkdale to try and start Christmas shopping. I really have no ideas…

wedding pictures, cafe world and structure

Several things happened today. I decided to add structure to my working life. Right now, I am working 2 days a week for TechSoup Canada, which means 3 days that I am not properly using. So today I have decided to add structure, let’s see how long it takes me to find structure.

I do have structure in Cafe World, it is a highly addictive Facebook game that has me entertained for the past few weeks.

Wedding Pictures!!!! I am very excited that we have now picked up our pictures and can start designing our photobooks and print some out.

Christmas Cheer

Today we scavenged through our storage locker to find one shoe box of Christmas cards to use for our wedding thank you’s, we will also be sending out a picture with it. This has become a dreaded chore to just finalize the wedding details and to move on. I am certainly thankful that everyone could make it to celebrate, but the idea of hand writing 100 cards feels draining right now. I want to be high spirits when I do it, so I am going to plan a day once the pictures are ready and put some Christmas music on and pound through them.

Additionally we got out our small beginnings of Christmas decorations, I am excited to add a little festive charm to our place.

Party Season begins…

Tonight we are going to Ed’s work Christmas party, I love any chance to dress up, do my hair and makeup and have free dinner, booze and dancing.

Last night, we had a very successful dinner and hilarious evening as always. Dinner was delicious, I love all holiday dinner fixings, they always remind me of Grandpa and those yummy dinners he used to cook for us. And as an extra dedication I even made scallop potatoes from a box just like he used to.
